There are many ways that a home garden can be of benefit to you. From improving your health, to helping burn calories and beautifying the surroundings, there are many reasons to start home gardening. Here are fabulous reasons to start a home or family gardening.

Access to fresh and healthy Food

Eating freshly grown foods is one of the best ways to eat healthily. It is way better than processed foods that have formed the bulk of our restaurants. When you concentrate on fruits and vegetables, you do yourself a lot of good, since fruits and veggies are part of the healthiest food. A personal garden will improve your diet and encourage you to eat healthily. Fresh food stays healthy and nutritious since it avoids subjection to processing and preservation.

You Build responsibility in Kids

When you have a family garden, you can delegate tasks based on age and capacity. Hence, even the smallest member of the family can have something to do. A garden is a terrific way to instill responsibility in kids. It will not be surprising for many kids to think that food items come only from the grocery stores. With a garden, however, they get to understand that if they can commit to tilling the ground, planting a seed and watering it, it can grow and provide food.

You Build Hand Strength and Dexterity

As we grow, there is a possibility that the hand strength wears out gradually. With this in mind, it is essential to try activities that engage the hand. Sewing and gardening are one of the few exercises that work and strengthen the hand muscle. For this reason, researchers recommend gardening for stroke patients. When you alternate the use of the hands, and you engage your non-dominant hand as well, you build strength and stimulate your brain.

Gardening Purifies the air

With the myriads of motor vehicles roaming our street and the increase in technology and industry, easily contaminates the air we breathe. What better way to reduce and get rid of air toxins than to plant a garden? Since plants use carbon dioxide and give out oxygen, it can foster optimum health among your family members.

Gardening is a Mild Form of Exercise

There are lots of activities involved in cultivation, Movement, bending, digging, weeding, winging of the hand and planting, etc. hence, gardening provides a terrific way to exercise. While gardening will not do much for your cardiovascular fitness, you get the benefits of low impact workout. We recommend this for people who find regular exercise a challenge.
